Are pregnancy symptoms the same as pms?
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and early pregnancy have some same confusing symptoms as sometimes it is
difficult to determine for women if they are pregnant or if their period is
about to start.
We are going to tell you that when these symptoms may be
just because of PMS or the symptoms of pregnancy that differ from PMS.
It may be only PMS:
1. If you suddenly start craving the food you never liked in the past, and your hunger behavior is
suddenly changed.
Why it does only indicate PMS: because such cravings usually
do not occur in early stage of pregnancy.
2. If you start to experience bloating just when they are
about to get down. Generally it happens due to water retention in the body.
Why it does only indicate PMS: It is a common sign of
menstruating women as a pre-menstrual symptom.
Bloating happens later in pregnancy when growing uterus will impact abdominal
cavity of women and slow the process of her digestion.
It may be you are pregnant
1. If you are feeling breast soreness, not just swelling or
tenderness in breasts.
Why it is pregnancy: This pain will last longer as compared
to the one in PMS as your progesterone levels rise when you get pregnant.
2. If you always want to lie down the entire day and feel
restless and really exhausted, chances are you are pregnant.
Why it is pregnancy: These are not symptoms that happen
during PMS. They only indicate pregnancy.
3. If you feel nausea all the time but specially in morning
and want to vomit, it could indicate pregnancy.
Why it is pregnancy: It isn’t a symptom of PMS and only
indicates pregnancy.
It can be either PMS or pregnancy:
Following symptoms are difficult to determine that they are
normal PMS symptoms or symptoms of pregnancy.
1. If your breasts become too sensitive it can be in PMS and
pregnancy too. Some women can spot the difference from their past experience if
your breasts are only swollen up and are only tender, chances are that you are
experiencing PMS but if your breasts get sore there is a high chance of a
pregnancy.
2. If your mood changes from low to high, suddenly you want
to cry just listening to a song or become too sensitive by a general day to day
conversation. You may have such mood changes in both PMS and pregnancy.
3. If you are feeling cramping in regular intervals, these
indications can be in both PMS and pregnancy..
If you suspect that you are pregnant should take a home
pregnancy test. If the result is positive, make an appointment with a doctor to
confirm the pregnancy as soon as possible and plan the next steps. If you found
that test is negative but period is not occurring within 1 or 2 weeks of when
it was due, it is always a good idea to see a doctor.
